You are looking at a dingy, multi-colored bedroom. This photo was taken the day we closed on the cozy creekside cottage.
This was the vision I have for the main bedroom.
The first thing that needed to be done was to close in the door that opened into the 2nd bedroom.
Second I wanted to add a vertical shiplap accent wall. I used this very thin plywood to create a shiplap design. I used 4 sheets that I had ripped down into 5 inch pieces by Lowes. Cost effective way to create a shiplap design for sure.
Once the "faux ship lap" was applied to the walls I filled in the holes from the nail gun and also the seams.
I rented a drum sander from Home Depot and found beautiful pine floors that are over 100 years old.
I built a half bath in the room. This house only had one bathroom and I thought it was important for guest to at least two bathrooms.
People sleep on Valspar paint, but it is my favorite. Color is Swiss Coffee.
The outside of the bathroom wall build I used the same ship lap method as the main wall and used scraps to finish it off.
Caulked around all the trim and baseboards.
Applied a clear coat in a satin finish. (I love the floors and all the imperfections.)
Hung blackout curtains on brass hardware.
