Week 3! Keeping it moving on our fixer upper home renovation. We finally got the massive fridge removed from the kitchen! It was way too big for the little cottage and we finally got that big guy out. I went ahead and got all of the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers removed so I can take them home with me and work on them in my garage. We are still waiting on our asbestos test results, so we haven't moved on with any plaster repairs. Once we get back the results we can move forward with our plans! Not too much has changed, but every small thing we can accomplish is moving us forward.
Cost breakdown for week 3: $0.00
Total for renovation: $47.95
This is what we are working with - the BEFORE version
I honestly think the future of this kitchen is going to blow everyone away, including myself.
The plan for the kitchen:
First I plan to CLEAN! Everything is so dirty and gross.
Next I plan to strip and sand all the cabinets until I can get a smooth, clean template to work with.
Once we have that prepped I plan to use left over cabinet paint and primer. This is extra from when we redid the kitchen cabinets at our home. I will be using that to save on cost and to save on waste.
Update the hardware on the cabinets.
Locate a vintage window to repurpose for the "pantry" cabinet door.
Remove the black tar paper glued to the floors. (This will be an adventure)
Sand floors.
Stain floors.
Add a door to the kitchen. (ADVENTURE TIME)
New faucet on the sink.
Buy a smaller fridge.
PAINT EVERYTHING.
Buy new cabinets for the the opposite side of the kitchen that will go on both sides of the stove.
Buy and install a range hood. (Another scary adventure)
The DREAM GOAL kitchen
So yeah, we have a lot ahead of us. I also want to state that we are not contractors, we are 100% on the DIY train and learning as we go. Every road block we run into we hit up youtube or google to figure it out. This entire process has been an adventure that is both scary and exciting. Like before, we created a little timelapse video of our week 3 journey.
