We Bought A Fixer Upper - Investment Property!

For YEARS I have had a dream of buying an investment property that I could renovate and have creative freedom with! We finally made that leap and have started the renovation process on our 1920's cozy creekside cottage! I will create weekly videos that share the process and the cost associated with the renovation of our future short term rental! We have $5,000 to remodel this entire home. So we will need to be thrifty and repurpose as much as we possibly can. So far we have spent $ 0.00 on the rehab, but this is just the beginning.

The reason we chose this home as our first real estate investment property.

  1. Price

  2. Potentially cheap rehab cost

  3. Waterfront property

  4. Short term rental opportunity

  5. Appraised for higher than we purchased for

The reasons why I love the house.

  1. Bungalow cottage vibes

  2. 10 foot ceilings

  3. Waterfront property

  4. Location near family

  5. All of the character

What we have accomplished in week one:

  • Removed half of the kitchen tile that had two layers of linoleum underneath.

  • Started to remove the door/frame that connected two bedrooms.

  • Changed door locks

  • Removed built in shelving that were in both bedrooms

  • Started the removal of a sketchy enclosed "porch" that is on the back of the home.

I am so excited to keep sharing and posting the progress.
